A notice for parents and legal guardians
PROJECT TEEN BIZ™ is a free youth entrepreneurship mentorship initiative founded by Lamoy Patterson for five families in Broward County, Florida. Because applicants are teenagers, this notice is written to be read by a parent or legal guardian, in plain language, and it describes exactly what happens to the information you send.
From the parent or legal guardian: your full name, your relationship to the teenager, your residential address, city, state and ZIP code, your phone number, and your email address.
About the teenager: their full legal name, date of birth, the age worked out from that date of birth, the school they attend, their grade level if you choose to give it, whether they currently have a business idea, and a short answer about what interests them about entrepreneurship.
Your four parent or guardian authorizations from Section C, your choice on the optional photography and media release from Section D, and the date and time the application was submitted.
To confirm the teenager is between 13 and 17 years old and that the family lives in Broward County, Florida, because those are the eligibility requirements for this initiative.
To review the application and contact you about it, using the phone number or email address you gave us.
To keep a record of the consents you gave, so we can show what you authorized and when.
To administer the mentorship if your family is selected, including the confidential progress records described in Required Authorization 4.
Only Lamoy Patterson and the authorized PROJECT TEEN BIZ™ program team can open an application. Applications are held in a private, access-controlled area of the site that requires an owner sign-in. They are not published, listed, or readable by the public, and there is no public page that shows them.
When an application arrives, a notification is sent to the program owner. That notification deliberately does not contain the family’s street address or the teenager’s date of birth. It tells the owner an application came in and points to the private dashboard, where the full record is opened securely.
We do not sell application information, and we do not share it with anyone outside the program team.
Participants’ dates of birth, home addresses, school details, private contact information, and other sensitive information are never publicly disclosed.
If you choose “YES” on the optional media release, only content the program has approved is ever shared, and only for program-related educational, promotional, and community awareness purposes. Choosing “NO” — or not choosing at all — has no effect on your teenager’s consideration for the mentorship.
We keep an application while the 2026 initiative is being reviewed and administered, and afterwards for as long as we need it to keep an accurate record of the consents you gave. We do not keep it indefinitely for no reason.
You can ask us to delete your application at any time, and we will do so unless we are required to keep a particular record by law.
You may withdraw the optional media authorization at any time for future use by sending us a written request. Withdrawal does not affect anything already published with your permission.
You may ask us to correct, update, or delete the application we hold.
To make any of these requests, email us or call us using the contact details at the bottom of this page. Tell us the parent or guardian name the application was submitted under, and what you would like us to do. We will confirm once it is done.
Applications are transmitted over an encrypted connection and stored in the site’s private, access-controlled data store. Only a signed-in owner or administrator can open them, and access requires a verification step. No system can promise perfect security, but we take reasonable measures to protect this information and we limit who can reach it.
